Awesome Underwater Strikes from Rainbow Trout

I’ve been spending probably more time than I should be lately on youtube watching fishing videos while I wait for the summer heat to disappear so I can get back on the water. There’s been a sudden surge of underwater strike videos with the release of  water wolf and other similar cameras (I’m not affiliated with them at all, just linked to them to show what it is). Most of the videos are just fish following the lure with a few strikes here and there, but this video below has consistent strikes, especially with the rainbow trout. The video should start at the 15:02 mark which is right around when there’s some good footage of rainbow trout strikes. The best part of the video is when he’s using a spinner, but there’s some strikes from soft plastics as well.

Now if only someone could figure out a way to make this camera work with a fly rod!

There’s one more video I really wanted to share with everyone. This guy catches an impressive smallmouth bass using a drone! I’ve seen fishing videos before where the angler will use a drone to fly the lure way out, but the lure is still attached to a rod on shore, and after the fish is hooked the drone detaches and the fish is reeled back in a traditional way.

If you buy anything below, I get a bit of beer money (commission).

This video however has no rod at all, and the fish is dragged to shore under the power of the drone itself! There’s a moment in the video where I full expect the fish to drag it underwater. That luckily doesn’t happen but the “angler” decides to land the drone and handline the smallie into shore.

Don’t try this at home as it’s probably a violation of your local angling regulations! His catch and release practices leave a bit to be desired, but the guy is ecstatic and it’s an very entertaining and at some points funny video.
